Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study applicability of subjects of lines, angles and polygons in a contructivist learning environment which is supported by concept cartoons. Since the research aims at putting forward constructivist learning process which is supported by concept cartoons, it is conducted as an action research. The research is implemented with the participation of students studying at 7th grade of a secondary school situated in Karacasu town of Aydın province during the spring semester of 2012-2013 academic year. In the research, according to data were gathered by interviews with students is analysed by using content analysis technique, problem scenarios and performance assignments are analysed by using rubric. In consequence of analysis of the research data, it is seen that constructivist learning implementations which is supported by concept cartoons improves problem solving abilities of students and that they can display knowledge they learnt through concept cartoons in performance assignments. Also, according to findings obtained from interviews with students, it is determined that learning process supported by concept cartoons contribute learners’ affective, cognitive and social attributes, learning-teaching processes and teacher attributes.
