Abstract

This study aims to determine the misconceptions that may arise in the learning processes of prospective primary school student teachers about Human Rights and Democratic Citizenship Education (HRDCE), to develop activities to eliminate these misconceptions and to eliminate misconceptions by applying these activities. Action research was adapted in the study. The study group of the research consists of 31 pre-service primary class teachers. Data were collected through concept definition forms, student diaries, focus group interviews, and activity sheets. The collected data were analyzed by content analysis. According to the results obtained from the research findings, it was concluded that most of the students had misconceptions about the basic concepts, that the activities applied eliminated the misconceptions, improved the learning and teaching process, and It was determined that students expressed positive opinions that they found the application efficient. It is recommended to utilize concept teaching techniques in the lessons and to prepare lesson plans in an application-oriented manner.
