Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the perceptions of teachers and school administrators about the concept of values education. Basic qualitative research method has been used in this research. The research group consisted of 235 teachers and 56 school administrators in Diyarbakir during the 2016-2017 academic year, 291 participants in total. The research data is the participants' "Values education….is like. Because ..." they were obtained by completing the sentence. Content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings obtained, teachers produced 235 metaphors for the concept of value education and 56 metaphors for school managers. It is seen that teachers mostly use the "building stone" and the school administrators use the "morality" metaphor. Taking into account the common characteristics of the metaphors, the metaphors produced by the teachers were collected in 15 categories and the school administrators in 5 categories.
