This study aims to reveal that the school administrator selection process experienced school administrator candidates’ percepctions on the oral exam. The study consists of case studies that include the indepth description and examination of a restricted system. A study group of 10 participants were formed with the qualitative sampling methods of maximum and criterion sampling. Data were collected through document review as well as semi-structured interviews with administrator candidates in the study group. Findings of the study demonstrate that it is not very easy for the administrator candidates to succeed in the oral examination depending only on personal factors without the role of social factors. Basing the administrator selection exam on oral examination causes negative psychological reactions for the candidates. Data obtained from the study group reveal that oral examination is highly inadequate in assessing administrator qualifications.
